To me, when I hear Cicadas, it's hot, right? But there is an awesome sea breeze blowing in my bedroom (i'm on the second floor, so based on the premise of hot air lighter than cool air it should be OMFG hot) and it's cool. But the insect noise is deafening. It's like a bizarre paradox.
No, I don't have air-con and right now I'm glad we don't. Firstly, contrary to some beliefs, Australia is not a backwards country in regards to technology. Air-con exists and nearly everyone has it here, since it gets really hot down here. I
don't because I can't really afford it (power bills!) and MOST of the time, since I live 10 minutes from the sea, I don't need it. Secondly air-con dries out my nose and makes it sore and itchy when I'm sick. The only air-con I can stand for prolonged periods of time is
callyfin's since it doesn't suck every drop of moisture out of the air.
